15th Annual Paint Out Event in Historic Dublin
Join us in Historic Dublin, OH.
Anyone is welcome to come out and draw/paint from 9 AM – 3 PM. Bring your own supplies.
Artists ages 16+ can enter the competition. Entered artwork MUST be WIRED on back to hang. All entries will be on display until the end of May at Blick Art Material, on Sawmill Rd. Prizes will be awarded at Reception, on may 3rd, 6pm.
The event is open to all artists in any medium.
Make sure you read all the info, some may be repetitive, but those are the items we had more trouble with in the past.
The Rules. — Saturday April 28th (rain or shine) artists 16+ may enter the Paintout competition. All competing artists must register and get their support stamped before they begin their work between 9:00 am and 12 noon at the Dublin Area Art League tent, at 55 South High Street in Historic Dublin. Oils MUST be framed. Dry media may be unframed. ALL MUST BE WIRED for hanging.
Registration –Everyone is welcome to join us and draw/paint outdoors. Bring your own supplies. In order to be admitted in the contest, the blank surface that the artist will use to create his piece must be stamped on the back at time of registration, at the Dublin Area Art League tent, located near the parking lot at 55 S. High Street in Dublin.
Registrations are accepted from 9am to 12 (noon). Registration fee is $15 (non-refundable) and covers one entry. More than one support may be stamped. At time of turn-in, artists may decide to enter extra pieces (all completed on the Paint Out day), at a fee of $10 each.
All media, except photography, allowed; any subject found in Historic Dublin is acceptable Boundaries: Indian Run to the North , Karrer Barn to the South, the Dublin Cemetery to the West, and the Scioto River to the East.

Completed but unsigned work with the DAAL stamp must be brought back to the registration table, ready to hang, not later than 3:00pm.
Exhibit — All entries will be exhibited at Dick Blick Art Materials located at 6486 Sawmill Road, until May 30th. Artwork needs to be appropriately framed with wire hanger to be exhibited.
A Blick release form must be sign at the time of stamping.
Prizes and Awards — Judging will determine the winners. This year the Juror is renowned artist Christopher Leeper .
The piece deemed to be Best of Show winner will receive $200 in cash. First, Second, and Third place winners will receive $100, $75, and $50 respectively. Merit award: $100 gift card from Blick. Three honorable mentions will receive $25 gift cards from Blick.
Sales — All sales are between the artists and the buyers. DAAL or Blick do not take any commissions nor process any payments. Artist contact info will be included on labels.

About the Judge
Christopher Leeper is a realist painter working in all mediums. His award-winning work has been shown in solo and juried exhibitions throughout the country.
He has illustrated four children’s books and has written and illustrated the book Realism in Watermedia, (North Light). His work has also been featured in The Artist’s Magazine, Plein Air Magazine, Watercolor Magic and Ohio Magazine and in the book Splash 14 (North Light).
He participates in a number of juried plein air events each year. He is a frequent award winner. In 2017, he won 2nd Place at the Wayne Plein Air Festival (Philadelphia), Honorable Mention at the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival, 2nd place Quickdraw at Mountain Maryland, 3rd Place in the small works category En Plein Air Texas and an Award of Excellence in the 2017 Ohio Plein Air Competition.
A popular instructor, he teaches numerous workshops each year as well as being a member of the adjunct faculty in the Department of Art at Youngstown State University. He serves on the board of trustees of the Ohio Plein Air Society and is past president of the Ohio Watercolor Society.
He graduated from Youngstown State University in 1988 with a BFA degree in graphic design. Since 2000, he has painted full-time from his studio in Canfield, Ohio.
He is represented by Charlotte Fine Art, Charlotte, NC.
